Just 20 miles from downtown Seattle, our 220-acre farm feels like it is a world away. Everything we produce is all natural, from vegetables and grass-fed beef to hay. No pesticides and only natural fertilizers are used on our property. Our land is hydrated by the Snoqualmie River itself, so even our irrigation process is natural.

July 6th

We are haying!!! We are up and running.
Things are happening fast at the farm. Corn is in. Pat and I hand planted 1,000 knee high starts on Saturday, giving us a total of 1,300. The rest of the corn crop is in seed and we are patiently awaiting their sprouts to pop through. Our goal was "knee high by the forth of July". Even with this wet weather, we have met our goal for at least part of the crop. Potatoes are looking beautiful. Two rows of Finn's and two rows of Chieftains (the little red ones). We planted tomato starts until we got rained out on Sunday. Poor Pat, what a way to spend Father's Day. We will hit it hard the rest of this week and, weather permitting, all plants should be in the ground by this weekend.
The cattle are doing beautifully. They are gaining well and love to follow us as we walk through their pasture. Moving them from one pasture to another is a breeze, as all you have to do is open the gate and the lead steer will follow you to the next location. Once they arrive at the new grass they run and buck, happy to have a new area to investigate. They add a lot of character to the farm.
Rodney will be back on location today or tomorrow. We have missed his friendly face and help.
I'll keep you posted as to the happenings and try to add a few pictures. Stop by if you can--but be forewarned, you may be handed a hoe or other manual weeding devise to use as we talk. A farmers work is never done.

Take Care, Sherry

Welcome to the Blog

Our new blog is up and running.
